The Valley Foundation was established in 1997 to assist students in pursuing a higher level of education. The mission of the Valley Foundation is to provide financial assistance in the form of college scholarships to current or returning students who have not earned the highest grade point averages and who are experiencing financial difficulties. A good citizenship record is important with participation in school activities, community services and/or employment constituting a prerequisite for consideration. Preference is given to graduates of high schools in Southern Arizona as well as students currently attending Pima Community College and the University of Arizona. United States citizenship is required. High School students whose grade point average places them in the top 5% of their class will not be considered. Applicants receiving substantial financial aid from other sources such as grants, waivers, or scholarships may not be eligible. |
During eleven years of operation, more than $540,000 in grants have been awarded enabling 148 students to attend various colleges, including Pima Community College, Eastern Arizona College, the University of Arizona, the University of Phoenix, Northern Arizona University, Arizona State University, Texas Christian University, the University of Hawaii, Loyola Marymount University, Linfield College, Hillsdale College, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, San Francisco College and Dartmouth College. The average scholarship granted is $3,000-$4,000 for a university and $1,500-$2,000 for a community college but grants for both more and less have been awarded based on circumstances and availability of funds.
